Abby NuRock, based in Johannesburg, is a dedicated music purist with a deep appreciation for the authenticity of music. She finds solace and healing in vinyl records, using them to craft infectious dance grooves and deep house beats. Her musical journey began influenced by her father’s introduction to acid jazz and German/French house. Starting her DJ career in 2002, she embraced the art with a pair of second-hand Technics SL/1210 decks that she still uses today. Abby NuRock’s extensive vinyl collection spans various genres, including vocal, soulful, deep, funky, jazzy house, and nu-disco. Fearlessly blending old and new school sounds, she creates a unique and authentic atmosphere. Notable influences include Frankie Knuckles, Carl Cox, Derrick Carter, and Mark Farina. Abby NuRock became a resident for Dursoul events in 2015, showcasing her passion for deep and disco sounds.
