The blaze started in a food stall near the main stage, likely caused by an explosion from a gas canister followed by a cooking oil ignition. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic when fire extinguishers failed to suppress the flames. The fire quickly spread, engulfing the entire stall, three vehicles, two trailers, and several tents.
The blaze also set off multiple gas canister explosions, adding to the panic. Emergency crews arrived swiftly on the scene, with both professional and volunteer firefighters from nearby towns working to control the fire with water jets and hand tools. Thankfully, the damage was limited to property, with only one person sustaining minor injuries – a hand burn. No fatalities were reported, and authorities are still investigating the area.
The fire occurred near the market area, directly opposite the main stage. Although the food stall is a total loss, festival organisers have not yet indicated whether the incident will affect other scheduled activities. The event is continuing, though the mood at the site has clearly been shaken.
Among the hardest hit were well-known traders Plazmalab and Indian Project, both regular fixtures at European psytrance festivals. Their stalls, merchandise, and personal stock were completely destroyed in the blaze. In response, Plazmalab have launched a GoFundMe campaign to recover some of the financial losses and rebuild their businesses. For many in the psychedelic community, these brands represent more than just clothing – they’re part of the festival culture itself – making the outpouring of support especially heartfelt. As of writing, they have reached 80% of their €9000 target.
This is not the first time Ozora has dealt with such dangerous incidents. At the 2024 festival, a man tragically jumped into the massive bonfire set alight as part of the closing rituals. His death highlighted the inherent risks at large-scale festivals, where injuries and even fatalities are not uncommon due to the combination of fire, crowds, and sometimes reckless behaviour.
Adding to the tension, weather reports predict a severe thunderstorm is set to hit the festival site over the next 24 hours. With strong winds and heavy rain forecasted, this will only add to the logistical challenges for both organisers and festival-goers already dealing with the aftermath of the fire.
Ozora has always been known for its psychedelic vibe, stunning visuals, and vibrant performances, but these recent incidents underscore the unpredictable dangers that come with such massive gatherings. While organisers are working hard to ensure the festival goes on, the combination of fire, explosions, and severe weather serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in these high-energy environments.
