Abracadabra 2023

Abracadabra is an ancient incantation linked to magic and healing. Its origin is Aramaic, the 2nd alphabet ever created, from the words ‘avra kadavra’, meaning “it will be created in my words”. This is a magical idea that embodies the spirit of our scene here in Kwa-Zulu Natal, and Darker Dimensions in particular as a brand. We exist to create our own happiness, and we hope to create happiness for you too.

Our goal has always been to help grow the local scene that we are so passionate about. This year we will be returning to that ethos by ensuring that we cater for all members of our scene. With this in mind, we have carefully selected a diverse bunch of sound pirates to entertain you over the weekend on our two (2) separate stages. The Warehouse stage will be dedicated to the full range of psytrance, with all types of techno, and for the first-time drum and bass, being showcased on the Chapel Stage. All of this will of course be hosted at Chantilly Resort in Zinkwazi, our home and a truly stunning wedding venue that offers high-quality facilities for you all to enjoy.

The headliners this year are very different from last year. If you have been paying attention to the outdoor festival scene in South Africa over the past decade, Deliriant needs no introduction. With years of DJ and production experience, 3 full albums, a multitude of single releases on a host of local and international labels, and a career as a studio engineer – he is a well-established artist in an ever-changing industry. Miles from Mars on the other hand is the combination of Deliriant and Maximilian, two sonic shamans who have joined forces to create a new psychedelic sound, fuelled by groovy leads and pounding, world-destroying bass lines. They are making huge waves internationally and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us.

We also recently discovered that Glyph lives in SA, as we know him as part of World People Production which, is an immensely popular psytrance record label from France. We knew immediately that we had to get him up here as soon as possible, as we are big fans of his production and you’ve heard some of his tracks in our sets over the years. He will also be bringing his amazing new dark progressive act called Hydrosplifix, which is fresh out of the studio and ready to slay dancefloors.

Our headliners will be joined by Hive Mind Visuals, a good friend of ours who just keeps progressing as a VJ. Kyle will take our production to the next level with world-class visual mapping, turning our festival into an audio and visual feast for the senses.
