Since the mid 1990s, Portugal has always been a hotspot for good psytrance festivals. In Lisbon and Porto, you can find regular parties throughout the year.
The most popular festival is the biennial Boom Festival, which takes place on lake Idanha-a-Nova in the mountainous Beira Baixa region of NW Portugal. It is about 250km from Lisbon and 350 km from Madrid in Spain. The weather at Boom Festival can be dry and extreme, with temperatures reaching 45 degrees Celsius.
