About the festival

The theme of Terra Firma Gathering centers on the idea of “strong ground”—both the literal earth beneath our feet and the deeper cultural, spiritual, and communal foundations that connect people to place. Rooted in the landscapes of Far North Queensland bush country and the wider Queensland outback, the festival celebrates the power of land as a meeting point for music, culture, and shared human experience. Ground that has held stories, footsteps, and cultural memory for thousands of years. The environment will feel open, expansive, and immersive, reflecting the wide horizons and quiet strength of bush country. Through its theme, Terra Firma Gathering celebrates the enduring relationship between land, identity, and creative expression, inviting people to come together on strong ground and experience music in a setting that honours place and community. The intention behind Terra Firma Gathering is to create a festival experience that reconnects people with land, culture, and each other through the shared language of music and creative expression. In a world where many cultural events take place in highly commercial or disconnected environments, Terra Firma Gathering seeks to offer something different: a gathering that feels grounded in place and purpose. By situating the festival conceptually within the landscapes and spirit of Far North Queensland bush country, the event encourages attendees to slow down, become present, and experience music within the context of the natural world. Terra Firma will focus mostly towards showcasing and celebrating the best Australian acts and talent with less of an international influence.
