The Little Forest Festival Cancelled Due to Severe Storm Damage

In a disappointing turn of events for psytrance lovers, the organizers of the much-anticipated Little Forest Festival have announced the cancellation of this year’s event at the Circle of Dreams venue in Riviersonderend. This decision comes after Cape Town and the Western Cape experienced one of the wettest winters on record, resulting in extensive damage to the festival site.

In a statement released today, organizers revealed that the venue has sustained severe storm damage, including washed away roads, destroyed infrastructure, and ruptured water pipelines from the mountain, leaving the farm without a reliable water supply. Numerous trees have also been blown over, complicating recovery efforts. It’s worth noting that last year, the venue faced significant flooding during the event itself, underscoring ongoing challenges posed by the region’s unpredictable weather.

“The damage has left us unable to prepare the venue to meet safety standards required by the Fire Department and local council, which are essential for obtaining the necessary event licenses,” the statement read. “We deeply regret the disappointment this decision will cause, but the safety of our attendees and staff remains our top priority.”

Refunds will be processed in full for festival and Glamping tickets, except for the Quicket booking fee. Attendees are encouraged to check their email for details on how to initiate the refund process.

Despite this setback, organizers remain optimistic about the future, confirming plans for next year’s festival. “We are excited to announce that we will celebrate 30 years of Alien Safari and Parallel Universe at a different venue. We can’t wait to bring everyone together for a spectacular event,” they stated, extending their gratitude for the community’s support during this challenging time.
