Spotify accounts hacked – what you need to know

It looks like it might be a good idea to reset your Spotify password as more than 300,000 accounts have been compromised due to a credential stuffing attack.

Earlier this week database containing 380 million login credentials is being used to try hack Spotify accounts. The database contains user information such as usernames, email addresses and passwords.

The database was actually identified back in July and Spotify performed password resets on impacted accounts.

However, it’s still recommended you change your Spotify password plus any other services that share the same password. Furthermore, make sure to use the “Sign Out Everywhere” feature to remove any dodgy logins.

Spotify currently does not support two factor authentication, a common security feature which makes it harder for hackers to gain access to accounts.
