Getting There: The largest airport is Frankfurt Airport, however Munich and Düsseldorf are also major airports for international flights. Flights to Berlin will arrive at Tegel and Schönefeld Airport until Berlin Brandenburg Airport is completed in 2021.

Best Time To Visit: Germany’s summer is in full swing from mid-June to mid-September. You can expect warm days with potential rain storms. During the summer season there are a lot of tourists, so expect prices to be higher for accommodation outside festivals.

Electricity Socket: 230V 50Hz electricity. Power outlets are European Type C Plug. A Universal Travel Adaptor is recommended for convenience.

Visa: Germany is a member of the EU and signatory of the Schengen convention. Any EU national is entitled to unlimited, Visa-free travel within Germany. Nationals of most American countries plus Australia and NZ benefit from 90 days of Visa-free travel within the Schengen zone. If you wish to stay longer than 90 days, you must apply for a Schengen visa. If EU nationals wish to stay longer than 90 days, whilst you do not need a Visa, you must register with the local Burgeramt within 2 weeks of arrival. Nationals of other countries such as South Africa, Russia, China, the Philippines, and other Asian countries must apply for a Schengen visa for any travel in Germany.

Language: The main language of Germany is German. Many Germans will speak a little English, especially in the major cities and tourist areas. But remember: English is a Germanic language, so try learn a few words before visiting.
