Mystical Complex from Spin Twist / Nutek – Exclusive Interview
Mystical Complex is the solo project of Eddie Zaltsman. An Israeli currently living abroad, Eddie’s sound has matured with over a decade of experience; producing & touring the world. With an addictive, melodic, cutting edge sound, it’s no surprise why Mystical Complex is becoming a fast rising name in the industry. We had a chat with Mystical Complex, ahead of his set at PsynOpticz – MAGIC of Jungala.
Psymedia : Hello Eddie! How has 2016 been for you, so far? Any standout moments?
Mystical Complex : It has been an amazing year, with a lot of changes. However, the year hasn’t ended just yet. The end of the year is the busiest and most exciting time of the year!
Psymedia : You’ve been living in South Africa for a while. How has that changed your writing and touring schedule? Any surprises?
Mystical Complex : I love South Africa. There’s a special vibe around this place. I’ve been to many places in my lifetime, but Cape Town, Cape Town is something else. For touring, tickets are more expensive from South Africa, but I do manage to tour around as much as I can. I haven’t made a huge change in that regard. The most surprising thing in South Africa is the barber shops. I never used to receive a full head massage before and after my haircut!
Psymedia : Your style has changed over the years. How would you describe the sound of Mystical Complex these days? Who are your biggest inspirations?
Mystical Complex : I have been producing music since I was 14 years old. Many things have changing over the years. As I grow up, so does my music. To fall forward is the key! The biggest inspiration has to be my dad. Music-wise, everything I Hear from that sounds good to me, not only psytrance.
Psymedia : Any plans for some new Royal Flush releases? Are you primarily focusing on your solo project, Mystical Complex?
Mystical Complex : I’m primarily focusing on Mystical Complex project , Royal Flush EP might be released at the end of the year
Psymedia : Have you thought about a new full-length album? Are full lengths still an appropriate format to release psytrance music [as opposed to EPs]?
Mystical Complex : I’ve made an album in 2014 called ‘One Step Closer’. Since then, a lot of things have changed. The way music is being distributed to the crowd has changed. I also personally prefer to finish a track and release it as fast as I can, to know the opinion’s of everyone that’s what makes me excited in every release.
Psymedia : You’ll be performing at PsynOpticz – MAGIC of Jungala alongside BLiSS and Vertigo. What can the dance floor expect from your set? Why are you excited to play for PsynOpticz at MAGIC?
Mystical Complex : I’m always excited to play. People are only now being exposed to my new music. There’s so much more I haven’t tested yet. The dance floor can expect from really heavy thumping!
Psymedia : Any upcoming releases you want to mention?
Mystical Complex : I have just finished mastering – Neelix – Wherever u Are (Mystical Complex RMX)
Psymedia : Anything to add before we finish off?
Mystical Complex : Thank you to Psymedia for the interview, PsynOpticz for the booking me to play at MAGIC and the people of South Africa. Big love!
