Smalltown Beat Festival 2024

Cape Town has always been blessed with a plethora of creative talent. Smalltown Beat was born out of the necessity to provide a platform for this talent. A platform for them to share their work and for our audience to discover new sounds, faces, and names. Since 2018, Smalltown Beat has played host to a diverse range of nearly 30 collectives and over 200 artists. Originating from corners all across Cape Town, these collectives and artists are connected by a consistent thread – a passion for music and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Inspired by this collection of people, Smalltown Beat’s mission mirrors that commitment, aiming to deliver the very best in electronic and live music our beautiful city has to offer. Always intent on exposing our local scene to new sources of inspiration, a complement of top-flight international bookings is forever the cherry on top.

With such an enormous amount of talent to display, a 3-day festival is the only paradigm that would suffice. However, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Festivals present a unique opportunity for departure from the rigmarole of modern society. An opportunity not only to connect with those you hold dear but an opportunity to reconnect with yourself.

Time waits for no one, and an inevitable result of this is change. Since our inception, we’ve lived through many versions of this: be it the addition of new collectives, the introduction of our warehouse series, or sadly losing our venue. In 2024, we see the next iteration of Smalltown Beat. We have finally found a space where we can drop our roots and grow for years to come. A venue that we feel provides the perfect canvas for our vision – something we are immensely excited to share with you all. While many things have fallen victim to change over the course of the last 5 years, our commitment to displaying the diverse and eclectic nature of our scene has not. In this spirit, we’ve kept our ear to the ground and are looking forward to introducing you to the acts that have grabbed our attention over the past year. The 2024 edition of Smalltown Beat marks the beginning of a new chapter in our story, and we couldn’t be more excited.
