In this short article, we will explain 5 common ways CBD oil can be consumed. There’s at least a half dozen ways to consume it – by inhaling, vaporizing, swallowing, applying topically and more!

With so many CBD oil products available, and many rookies not sure what’s best for them, we’ve put together a list of some of the most common CBD Oil delivery methods available.

CBD Oil

CBD oil

CBD oil is the general phase given to many different products containing CBD. The most popular CBD oil method is called a tincture – a liquid extract in a bottle with a dropper. It can simply be dropped on the tongue or in a drink and is absorbed quickly in the body.

You’ll also want to learn the difference between isolate, broad-spectrum and full-spectrum CBD. If you’re not a fan of the taste, CBD oil can also come in a gelcap that you swallow, similar to other supplements on the market. CBD oil is generally used for symptoms like pain, anxiety, sleeplessness and stress.

CBD Chocolate

CBD edibles

CBD edibles are different food and drinks that are infused with CBD and becoming popular in the wellness sector. Some of the most popular edibles include chewable sweets and gummy sweets. Each sweet contains a measured dose of CBD, so it’s important not to eat too many.

In South Africa, CBD water is also available (from companies like Goodleaf). There is also CBD coffee and CBD tea, however their effectiveness is questionable.

CBD edibles tend to have a longer-lasting effect and are popular for pain, inflammation and stress.

CBD vape

CBD vapes are also popular and can be used to treat symptoms quickly (such as anxiety, chronic pain and seizures). These products can be broken down into 2 main categories: products that have a refillable/disposable cartridge and a pen-style that is used for concentrates. There’s a ton more information regarding CBD vapes, which we will go into at a later stage.

CBD topicals and lotions

CBD topicals and lotions include CBD products that you can apply topographically for pain relief, inflammation and sore muscles. Other CBD topicals include lotions, balms, sprays, creams, lubes and more. These products are either made using a water-base (for fast absorption) or oil-based (for deeper absorption in the skin). They are great for localized pain or a specific part of your body.

CBD capsules

CBD capsules or softgels are one of the easiest methods for consuming CBD. If you already take a multi-vitamin, or any other tablet for that matter, simply adding a CBD capsule to your daily regime is highly recommend. They are easy to swallow and administer a measured amount per dose.
